It is a 3 1/2 hour drive from Dubrovnik to Krka National Park, through Bosnia and Herzegovina. Once there, you ride a boat across the waterway into the park area, debark and then walk the trails to see myriades of waterfalls. We were there during a massive heat wave and, since it had not rained in a very long time, the decrease in the water levels was quite evident, but still spectacular. I recommend bringing a bathing suit because you can swim in many parts of the park where the waterfalls are. It was very crowded June, July and August are always that way, they told us, with thousands of people/families. Lots of steps may be a challenge for some folks, so just keep that in mind. We left Dubrovnik at 7am with a very nice driver in a luxury vehicle, and then we were in the care of a private guide all through the park for about 3 hours, including a stop at the end for lunch. We arrived back in Dubrovnik around 6pm. I think it was a great day out.
