Eva was our guide and she was spectacular! Wonderful and clear presentation (headsets great idea!). Funny and personable - a great way to bring history to life. Highly recommend.
This was a wonderful tour of Edinburgh - Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Eva was a fantastic tour guide.
We really enjoyed our day with Eddie on the Wee Red Bus. The bus was new and clean and comfortable, and the visits were just the right length at each stop. It was a lovely complement to Edinburgh urban experiences. Eddie was engaging and talked just the right amount. He also brought his own “mix tape” of Scottish historical songs which we much enjoyed. Great day!
If you don't want to go straight up the hill to the castle, this is the tour you want to be on. It winds thru alleyways and such and by the time you get to the castle, you're not out of breath. Our tour guide was so enthusiastic, showed us many places and told us many facts that we could not have found out on our own. She was wonderful. The only disappointment being, we really didn't have much time at the castle (our fault as we had a ship to catch) and the fact that there were only 2 period buildings remaining at the the castle. Great military building honoring WWI veterans, but the royal building with the 'crown' jewels and royal apartments was a disappointment as most rooms were empty.
To be honest this is one of the few group tours we took vis-a-vis private tours. The guide did her best in terms of content and humor but given this is a group there was little time for a more engaged conversation. We covered the spots, buildings, closes and a brief tour of Edinburgh castle before being let to explore the castle. An excellent tour to quickly acquaint yourself if you have no background to the city.
the tour was like going shopping but only being in one area of the shopping center for a long time. Calling it a walking tour is well exaggerated. It was more like a shuffling your feet tour and there was filming going on so we had to imagine what things were like while the guide told us about things on the Royal Mile. Told not allowed to take pictures where filming was and lots of long talks while standing and waiting to move on. The tour guide was very knowledgeable however. This tour is really not good for people who like to walk. Then the irony is that it had skip the line at the Castle, only to wait in a circle to get the tickets (longer then going up to get the tickets yourself).
Good way to start off your stay in Edinburgh. Rachel from Mercat tours provides a very informative historical overview of the city and castle history.
I would just like to say that Nicky our tour guide was amazing. She was so knowledgeable about the subject and made our tour an enjoyable experience. Some of the stories she told you would not of got anywhere else . I learned many things about the history of Edinburgh, prominent people and the architecture of the city. There was also a lot of humour involved. I don't normally go on historical tours but I am glad I went on this one. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Best way to start your stay Edinburgh. You should do this tour before anything else. Guide gives you great insight on Old Edinburgh, and you get into the castle which is a MUST SEE. Take this tour for sure!
Linda was a fantastic tour guide, full of knowledge on old historical facts. Linda also provided information on the varied modern era items, movies shot there etc. We were in a large group and could hear clearly as Linda projected her voice loud enough for the people in the back. I would for sure suggest this tour
Loved the history..........take the morning tour......less crowds walking around then Our tour leader was very interesting and was certainly well informed. Walking shoes a good idea as the footpaths / road are cobblestones. Great to have Skip the line entry as when we left the castle there was an hour wait in the queue for entry tickets
Great tour!!!
we really enjoyed the walk and the city and the castle was well worth seeing. Good value and well done
