After pick-up at your centrally located Marrakesh hotel/Riad, or a pre-arranged meeting point, we start our day adventure to Essaouira. On the to Essaouira, make a stop at an Argan oil cooperative, and observe how the oil is produced using traditional techniques. Upon arrival in Essaouira, explore the historic city on your own. The town is also an example of a multicultural center demonstrated by the coexistence of Muslims, Jews and Christians. Shop for souvenirs such as silver and leather, have lunch of freshly caught, cooked-to-order local seafood. Take a swim in the calm, clear, waters, or just stroll the beach, people watch, listening to local artist singing or playing instruments in the square. Visit the Essaouira Museum, where you will see displays of artifacts such as archaeological finds from the islands of Mogador or Berber ethnic jeweler from the neighboring tribes. Climb up to the Portuguese fortress, a navigational port of call in the l6th century. See the local art galleries and the cabinet making workshops. After an afternoon of exploring, shopping, and eating return to Marrakesh in the evening.
