About this activity
Meet your guide in central Florence, and then set off on your leisurely paced walking tour, visiting several specialty food shops around town while learning about Tuscany’s gastronomic heritage. The region’s love affair with food and wine is founded on a deep respect for its produce, where raw materials – such as juicy plump Tuscan olives – have been nurtured for centuries.
Start with a visit to a delicatessen that specializes in foraging and selling truffles, one of the region’s highly prized natural ingredients. Sip on a glass of zesty crisp prosecco (the Italian’s answer to Champagne) and soak up the bubbles with a panino tartufato – a delicate pâté sandwich seasoned to perfection with slivers of the gourmet fungi.
Stroll to an artisan chocolate shop nearby and treat your sweet tooth to a chocolate-tasting session. Savor silky-soft nuggets of the sweet treat, noting the rich flavors present in high-quality chocolate, and then head out of the shop to visit an olive oil boutique.
Popular with locals and visitors alike, the high-end shop specializes in the sale of quality Tuscan olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Sit down for a tasting with the shop's charming owner and learn about the different varieties of fruity and piquant oils on offer.
Take a wander along the pretty cobblestone alleyways that make up the backstreets of the city, and stop for a gelato from a locally loved gelateria before winding up inside a wine bar. Sip on a glass of Chianti – one of Tuscany’s typically robust and tannic reds – and nibble on chunks of warm focaccia bread to finish your foodie adventure.

Our tour of Florence was an amazing success!! Our tour guide was Francesca!!! He had so much good information to provide about the city. The food and drink provided during the tour were wonderful!! If you only have a couple of hours and would like to have an experience of Florence please take this tour!!!!
This was the first thing we did when we got to Florence and it was it great. It's a great way to see some of the city, try some amazing food, and meet a few people along the way. It was the right amount of time for us, not too long and not too short.
Our guide did a great job navigating our group through our five food stops, each of which was very well chosen. They ran the gamut from fancy (chocolates) to atmospheric (wine) to somewhat upscale corporate (olive oil) to the oldest sandwich shop in Florence (truffles). She was very well informed on food and local history both. Definitely worth it!
Was a great way to get to know the city better, while also enjoying a range of food and beverages. Very entertaining and educational
A highlight of our trip. We visited 5 different places and leaned so much about the Italian food, we needed at a wine tasting troop where we enjoyed Prosecco so much we decided to stay for another hour and another glass. Its a nice break from the museums. I would highly recommend.
Nina was AWESOME! The tour description should have said you'll see the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Panthenon! It checked off a lot of on our list, so I was glad we did it out first day in Rome! The food was SO MUCH FUN! We were a small group so it was awesome in the restaurant and the chef was so friendly even though he didn't speak english! Nina translated for us and everything was delicious!! Highly recommend as this was one of our highlights in Rome!
Wonderful tour! A Great way to see the city and there was fabulous food quite a bit of variety
