About this activity
If you loved the Inferno book and movie then this tour is a must. With this tour you will feel like living in the movie. Your 3 hour tour will start in the center of Florence where you will meet your guide that will take you first to the Duomo of Florence. With your entry ticket you will have the chance to visit the Cathedral and Baptistery. The Duome of Florence is the main church of the city.
This church started to be built in 1296 and only got finished in 1436. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white and has an elaborate 19th-century Gothic Revival façade by Emilio De Fabris. The Gothic interior is vast and gives an empty impression. The relative bareness of the church corresponds with the austerity of religious life, as preached by Girolamo Savonarola.
Then your guide will take you to see the Baptistery also known as the Baptistery of Saint John. The Baptistery is one of the oldest buildings in the city, constructed between 1059 and 1128 in the Florentine Romanesque style. The Baptistry is renowned for its three sets of artistically important bronze doors with relief sculptures. The south doors were created by Andrea Pisano and the north and east doors by Lorenzo Ghiberti. The east doors were dubbed by Michelangelo the Gates of Paradise. Then your tour guide will take you to visit the Palazzo Vecchio. The Palazzo Vecchio is the city hall located in the center of Piazza della Signoria. At the end of your tour you will feel just like Robert Langdon in Inferno.
