We had a great time on this tour and enjoyed all of the destinations. We would have enjoyed a little more time in the different locations but we understand that is not practical with so many things in one tour. The only thing that might have allowed us to spend more time would be to limit translations to one or two languages (it was a bit long waiting for every spoken word by tour guides and others to be translated 3 times).
The ticketing and on boarding process was very good. The tour guide on the bus was excellent. After that it went down hill. When they say the tour is Spanish and English, I thought that meant it was available in either language. Instead, our guide first spoke in one language then repeated it in the other language, meaning that he could not point out things of interest due to need to translate. On arrival to Monteriggioni we were told the bus would park 15 minute walk away. Would have been good to know that ahead of time since my 80 year old mother in law was with us. Only having 30 minutes did not give enough time to explore and shop in this beautiful setting so most of the family had to rush through to see the city because they had stopped to shop. Could have easily spent an hour in the village looking around. Next stop was Siena where we again had to park a 10 minute walk away from town. We had a guide in town but if I just look at what the guide showed us I would think that Siena is just a medieval plaza and a church when there was so much more to it from what I have read. Lunch was the worst meal I have had in the 16 days I have spent in Italy and was on par with the average Italian restaurant in the US. The wine served was not palatable to most of the people at our section of the table although others did drink 1-2 glasses of wine. The tour in San Gimignano was nice, again an uphill walk to town but seemed that we had enough time to get a taste of this village (could probably spend a day there). The wine tasting was horrible. I am huge fan of Italian wines, especially Tuscan wines but the wine served at the tasting does a disservice to anyone not familiar with these wonderful wines. Visiting a newly developing vineyard would be great if we could have gone elsewhere to taste the wines of Tuscany but as the only real tasting it was a huge disappointment. I will not do this tour and cannot recommend that anyone take this tour without changes.
Great tour. Loved seeing the hilltop towns, excellent lunch and trip to a winery. Perfect experience in Italy. Bus, tour guide and driver were excellent! Highly recommended.
We enjoyed the cities visited and their history and sights. Lunch was really good and the visit to the winery capped a wonderful day.
This was a convenient way to see several sights without having to participate in exhausting and often generic tours. We had ample time to freely move about on our own and experience the sights according to our interests. Beautiful day to boot! Wine tasting was a fun ending to a great day.
Siena was a very nice city. I loved that old town of San Gimignano and Monterriggioni. The Gabriel, the guide, was incredible. I enjoyed this tour a lot.
