About this activity
At the designated time, you will get picked up from your Freeport hotel or from the harbor. Meet your guide and embark on your 6-hour ocean expedition.

Head for the West End of Grand Bahama Island (25-35 minutes from Freeport), which has numerous reefs ranging from near-shore to sites located off Indian Cay and Wood Cay. These two cays are in close proximity to West End and offer exceptional clear seas and an abundance of marine life. The shallow depths around the cays average 4-8 feet. Migrating and resident birds also frequent the cays year round.

A visit to Nirvana Reef and the Boat Wreck make for an exciting opportunity to see hundreds of fish in shallow water. The area has a number of exotic fish worthy of taking a closer look. Look for an occasional spotting of nurse sharks, stingrays and lionfish. Underwater cameras are recommended. Just off Settlement Point are two more amazing reef systems filled with various coral and fish. Heading toward the southern coast is Bootle Bay, and additional reefs that meander along the shoreline in depths of six to 12 feet (2 to 3.5 meters).

Next, discover the most dynamic ecosystem at Sandy Cay, about eight miles off West End. After a briefing about the foraging habits and personalities of the stingrays, you may be lucky enough to receive a visit from the cay's largest stingrays Big Brownie and Big Bean. The snorkel with the rays lasts about 40 minutes in their natural environment.

Take an optional 15-minute walking eco-tour of Sandy Cay before heading over to snorkel a sunken boat wreck submerged in only 10 feet (3 meters) of water and filled with thousands of fish and marine life (subject to weather and sea conditions) .
