A few days after taking this tour, we went on a minibus trip. Both were excellent experiences but afterwards I appreciated why it was worth paying more for a jeep trip. It was much more personal in a smaller number and I got to sit up front with the driver, Nelson. I was able to ask him loads of questions, and as he was able to answer all of them it made a much more satisfying day. Nelson was able to simultaneously drive, do offroading, give a talk and translate into several languages, all without crashing the vehicle! I am totally in awe of these guides and think they must be the elite of the tourism trade in Madeira. I hope they get paid accordingly by their bosses.

Absolutely fabulous- our guide was Nelson- very personable, informative and passionate about his country- knew loads of information. He was very considerate and not once did we feel we were rushed or on a tight time frame. We had fun on the off-road part of the trip- my 13 year old absolutely loved it but you do need bouncy knees and strong arms if you want to stand up as it is a very bumpy ride. This is not a trip for the infirm but I believe that Green Dragon do other trips more suitable for people who want something a bit more sedate. Lovely morning- just the right length of time, stop for a drink half way- saw parts of the Eastern side of the Island we wouldn't have seen- loved it- would recommend whole heartedly and we would book with them again- thank you Nelson
