Madeira Peaks - Mountain Walk
1 day
By walk
About this activity
Your tour begins with pickup at your hotel or pre-arranged meeting point at around 9am.
This walk will give you a more complete picture of the real beauty of this island. Rock formations seem to want to reach heaven like giant sculptures. Throughout the entire tour the views are simply breathtaking. A profusion of unique plants make this place their natural habitat.
Near Vereda do Pico Ruivo, you'll walk through the oldest heather forest. These ancient trees are many hundreds of years old and were already there when Zarco discovered and landed on the island for the first time. Pico Ruivo (the highest point on the island) is only a footstep away – be delighted and amazed with the magnificent views over the island.
Your tour concludes with hotel dropoff at approximately 5pm.

the guide and the driver were uplifting and responsible. My teenage daughter and myself have seen stunning landscapes and enjoyed friendly atmosphere of this walk (and this despite my default dislike for large groups). Highly recommend for people who like walking!
The only way to see the peaks. Amazing geology. Lisa, our guide, was very knowledgeable and informative.
