About this activity
The walk takes place in the middle of the Rabaçal valley, one of our most prized nature attractions in the Madeiran Laurissilva forest, the largest laurel forest in the world!
The first big attraction of the walk is the Fonte do Lajeado Lake.
Tucked away amongst the dense vegetation, this lagoon is the source of all the levadas in the Rabaçal region.
Along the path you can find stretching views of the rabaçal valley, small waterfalls and the sound of some of our endemic birds.
You will find some of the largest and oldest endemic plants such as the laurel, stink laurel and heather.
As well as the Lagoa do Vento waterfall and lagoon.
Formed by the elements hundreds and thousands of years ago, this 100m waterfall cascades down the volcanic rock formation amongst the green ferns, mosses, grasses and bushes surrounding the environment.
Possibly the most underrated hike on the island, away from the big crowds, a must do for all nature and Madeira Lovers!
