About this activity
After being picked up from your Hanoi hotel at 9am, set out on the around 1-hour drive to Van Giang village by minibus, following a scenic route along the banks of the Red River, past lush rice paddies and banana plantations.
On arrival in Van Giang around 10am, head straight to the morning market to soak up the atmosphere, browse the stalls, and watch locals going about their everyday lives. Back in the village, pay a visit to the historic home of local resident Mr An, who is renowned for his beautiful 150-year-old house and impressive collection of Bonsai trees.
Continue to a another family home, where you can help prepare lunch with your hosts and learn the secrets of making traditional Vietnamese spring rolls and fish sauce. At midday, sit down with your host to enjoy a typical Vietnamese lunch, accompanied by your homemade spring rolls, and have chance to sample local specialty, Chung Cake.
In the afternoon, pay a visit to the nearby Bat Trang ceramic village, where you'll have chance to discover the traditional handicraft, peek into the crafts workshops, and watch pottery making demonstrations. Perhaps pick up some hand-crafted souvenirs (own expense) to take home with you.
After the return journey to Hanoi, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 3.30pm.
