About this activity
This 2-hour guided kayaking trip departs from the retail store in the Taupo Town Centre.
You will travel a short 5-minute drive from the store in the complimentary shuttle service to the river where the kayaks will be unloaded. You will put on your kayak gear including the spray jackets and life-jackets.
Have a training session on the basics of how to paddle and the safety aspects involved for the trip. You will then have a departure photo before starting your journey. Once you are on the water you will practice some paddle strokes in the lagoon before starting the journey down the mighty Waikato River.
You will travel past Cherry Island which was formerly a popular family outing with an animal park and café. Stop off below the Taupo Bungy drop zone, on a good day you will get to see a few people bungy and swing.
Then continue the paddle down the river to the hot thermal stream that enters the river for a soak in the healing thermal waters. From here it is a short trip to the famous Reids Farm, a camp site on the banks of the river, popular with tourists in the summer months where the journey ends.
Here you will be greeted by the shuttle driver who will have a warm or cold drink waiting for you depending on the season. The trailer will be loaded before you head off for the short trip back to the retail base where there are toilet facilities and changing rooms for you to use. You will also be provided with the details of where to get the complimentary tour photos from.

It was really beautiful route and easy to kayak but too short, almost 45 minutes in hot springs. They could also wash life jackets too, they smell bad.
