We so looked forward to the tour! Our driver was our guide and although he was very nice we feel he was not qualified to be a guide! If was confusing as to which volcano was which, and he would stop somewhere and not announce where we were, and then give verbal instructions as we got off the bus, a lot of which we missed! When looking at the tour description it appeared that we would be able to walk in a Lava Tube, but this was not available!
Overall I truly enjoyed the Volcano National Park, and appreciated that they took us to other parts of the park that other tours don’t get to see. However our tour guide was difficult to follow, and I felt that some of the timing of the stops was off. Please note there are 6 stops before going to the national park. I felt that there were too many stops prior to going to the park and would’ve preferred to go to the park earlier. Also we had to stop to get “lunch” at the gas station where there were very minimal options. Please note that tour will likely take longer than 6 hours, ours lasted 8, so plan accordingly. Despite this the volcano national park was amazing and would highly recommend going to this site at some time during your stay on the Big Island!
EXCELLENT! The guide was wonderful! He stopped at interesting places along the way but still allowed us several hours exploring the Volcanoes Park - which is why we took the tour in the first place. We were able to explore and discover on our own along with suggestions and information the tour guide gave us. The pick up easy - it was right outside the dock.
They need to properly put a company sign on their bus, at least a piece of paper or something. Apparently, they had a another travel company bus, we had to ask around before we found them. Once that was done, the rest of the trip was awesome. They were knowledgeable and friendly. Do not miss this tour !
The tour was worthwhile due to our limited time to see the Hilo side of the island. I think the guided was informative and had good stories. Use of time could have been better as our tour was adjusted based on some people on the tour who had to leave early.
The tour itself was excellent, really enjoyed the guide and the 8-9 Stop’s was more than expected. The best stop was the volcano “tubes” or tunnels. Problem with communication, not sure if viator or dynamic tour Hawaii, but information on voucher not accurate. Had 45 minute panic from bad info.
Very good trip seeing all the highlights in the national park and the volcano active at night. Excellent guide, Lance, very helpful and informative.
Wonderful place, my sister and I enjoy. The driver was very helpful and with courtesy assisted in the trip.
