Stop At: Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater), 07 Lam Son Square Street District 1, Ho Chi Minh City 700000 Vietnam
We will meet our guide there.
Escape the city for a tour of the Mekong Delta, where you'll see what life is like beyond the urban centre of the south. About 2.5 hours away is the city of My Tho, a former naval base that is now a bustling port city in the Mekong Delta.
The area is the final destination of the mighty Mekong River, which winds its way from Tibet, through China, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, and finally into Vietnam. An incredibly fertile region, the Mekong Delta's prime industry is food production, producing approximately half of Vietnam's total agricultural output. Local life for villages in the area revolves around the rivers and canals that make up the delta, so much so that people are more likely to transport by river than road.
Upon arrival into My Tho, we board our private boat for a cruise on the Mekong River. Our first stop is at a fish farm, to gain an insight into one of the cottage industries in the region. On our Mekong tour, we'll visit an island with lush tropical gardens where we have a chance to sample tropical fruit. Continuing to another island in the Mekong Delta, we'll learn more about another cottage industry, coconut candy. Your local guide will take you to a factory and explain the process of making the sweet. As we meander down the Mekong, we'll have a chance to visit local villages in the area and learn more about the traditional lifestyles, culture, and customs of people who call the Delta their home.
Continuing on our Mekong discover, we'll travel by Xe Loi (motorised cart), and visit a bee farm, from where we'll transfer to a smaller rowing boat to help us get deeper into the smaller canals of the Delta.
Duration: 4 hours 40 minutes
Stop At: Diem Phuong Restaurant, 68, Xeo Ro Hamlet, Hung Yen Commune, An Bien District, Kien Giang Province, Hưng Yên, tx.An Biên, tỉnh Kiên Giang, Vietnam
For lunch, we'll hit up Diem Phuong restaurant, where your local guide will provide you with some advice on the finer points of local cuisine and assist with ordering some of these delicacies.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater), 07 Lam Son Square Street District 1, Ho Chi Minh City 700000 Vietnam
We'll head back to My Tho for the journey back to Ho Chi Minh City where you will be dropped off at your hotel.

The tour was very good. We did a lot for the price. The guide man was very nice and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. :)
tour as described. had a little bit of everything from tuk tuk, motor boat, to canoe rides. lunch was really good.
Travel time was reasonable and air con welcomed as it was hot! The initial boat on the Mekong was cooling and pleasant. We were taken to various locations that make up the Communities of the Delta. The boat on the river was fantastic even if getting off was a challenge but then again, not everybody had Osteoarthritis of the Spine and a damaged left knee and lower leg. Many thanks to the 2 Oz 1 Kiwi guys that helped me throughout the trip. So consideration should be given to a reasonable level of fitness. We were fed several times - there is a small extra charge for the local delicacy of grilled rat!!! I passed on the that one but others sampled and it's the only place in the world where I have heard "I'll get the drinks" with the response "ok, I'll get the rat!!!" A great day with nice friendly people from around the World. A must do from Ho Chi Minh City.
Thuong aka Miss Love was our tour guide. She greeted us with a smile and made the whole day a fun and positive experience. My seven year old and I came to Vietnam from Okinawa, Japan and met our family from California. We loved riding in the boat and visiting the three islands. Throng was the best ever at ensuring a great day seeing the local culture while making a wonderful memory.
First off, the company was kind enough to allow us to reschedule our trip last minute due to me getting food poisoning the night before. Once we finally went, the trip was amazing. Very interesting and adventurous. The driver of the boat was even kind enough to take care of my husband who got sick from food poisoning the night before the trip. I felt scared leaving him on the boat, but he was in good hands.
Highly recommend this tour for people who want the thrill of countryside life and are not too worried about time passing by - just relaxing and being in the present! I took the tour on 24-Nov with a most attentive and caring guide, Linda. She made sure we were enjoying ourselves and immersing in the life outside of Ho Chi Minh city. She was very knowledgable and even shared some of her personal stories too. The highlight for me was riding the small boat in the delta and fantastic lunch!
Ok to do
