About this activity
Your day starts with early morning transfer from your Ho Chi Minh City hotel to your speedboat at the central pier. As your boat sets off along the Saigon River, a light breakfast is served.
Your guide introduces you to the history and importance of the fertile Mekong Delta as your boat approaches its vast network of canals and channels. Known as the rice bowl of Vietnam, the delta provides food, shelter and work for a large percentage of the nation.
Learn from your guide about the region's Buddhist spiritual practice when you stop at the ornately decorated Tuong Van Pagoda. Then continue your journey downriver to visit a colorful waterside market. Keep your camera handy for photo ops of mounds of goods, including exotic fruits, veggies and fish.
By midmorning, your boat reaches the watery expanse of smaller tributaries that splinter from the Mekong River. Glide under a canopy of tropical foliage as your boat winds through lush canals, and stop to explore key places with your guide. You'll enjoy a rowboat trip along small canals of the delta surrounded by coconut palms and visit a village to try fresh coconut and other produce, or sample fiery Mekong whiskey or wine.
Take a break from sightseeing over a relaxing lunch prepared by a private chef at a pagoda. Traditional dishes may include fresh spring rolls, caramelized pork, ginger chicken or elephant ear fish — a Mekong Delta specialty.
When you have finished lunch, visit a colorful Cao Dai Temple, and learn from your guide about the Cao Dai religion, which combines the teachings of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity. Then visit a nearby orphanage run by Buddhist monks.
After your enlightening experience on the Mekong, start the return journey to Ho Chi Minh City, enjoying the scenery as you go. Upon arrival back at the pier, your guide returns you to your hotel.

Kah and his team gave us a very memorable tour of the Mekong. The tour allowed us to see and experience 'real life' Vietnam. We were taken to places that were not tourist traps yet gave us great insights into the lives of the people on the Mekong. Kah was a very passionate guide and was able to share with us a lot of his local knowledge of the area, people, wild life and nature. Thank you all for a great day.
We had a 'great luck' to have Tony, as a guide. Experienced, cheerful and thoughtful, he knows how to add to a tour 'something very special'. Very unexpectedly, he guided us to an orphanage, operated by an only Buddhist priest of the temple nearby. The establishment is supported by volunteers and good-will people. That was the day when this priest invited musicians for the kids. We were also invited to join the concert, of course thanks to Tony. That was really unforgettable. All the face of children was beaming. Tony made us love Vietnam. I don't know how to thank him. Bravo! Tony!!!
I really enjoyed the tour to Mekong Delta by speedboat. Best of all was our guide Tony - Mekong is his home and he knows a lot about living and working in the Delta. Thanks Tony for this great tour.Thomas
I loved that there were only six of us on this tour. A wonderful way to see the Mekong Delta. The guides were amazing! 100 would do this tour again if I ever get back to Vietnam!
Having a small group was great and we went to places that were not crowded with trillions of other tourists. Way better than expected and would highly recommend this tour. Includes hotel pick up, speedboat, canoe, lunch and lots of fun.
This tour was very well organised, very informative and very enjoyable. I found it difficult to know exactly where we were going before the trip but the experience was interesting nonetheless. It would be good to have a map available to know exactly the route the tour takes. I highly recommend this experience. Great guide.
A genuine experience which I will always remember! Highly recommended.
The reason the rating is not 5 star is because over all Mekong delta was not really exciting for me, and i was disappointed that the floating market was not included. Also, no fault of the tour company, part of the route to Mekong was very dirty and disgusting. Les Rives tour arrangements were five star, on time pick up by Hung, our guide who was outstanding. In fact, he was the highlight of the trip. Tour itself had no tourist trap, no pressure to buy anything. In fact, even when we asked if we could buy the wines we tasted, the answer was that perhaps the family who makes it will share with us. Tour took us to remote areas, and as a result, we were in peaceful areas and never saw another tourist. Generous amount of water, refreshments and wet towels were provided. Lunch was very good, local wine was also great.
