This is an intersection of Old Saigon where the Honnored Buddhist Monk Thich Quang Duc burnt himself to protest the south Vietnam president Ngo Dinh Diem. Right now a huge and beloved statue of the monk is located with respectful urn for people’s worshipping. Through our guide’s explanation, you will understand more deeply about the conflicts between Buddhism and Catholic in 1960s, and a bit about the TODAY’s religious life of the Vietnamese.

Also our guide will show you a modest old building on top of which the LAST HELICOPTER evacuated the Saigonese and American citizens out of Saigon before the city was attacked by North Vietnam communist soldiers.

It’s a typical local market in Saigon where you can immerse yourself into a local life style. You will be greeted by smiling sellers even we don’t come for shopping. You may not see much any where else except in this market that everything is sold outside and on the street like foods, fish, meat, rice, clothes and fruits. How interesting to see some alive fish, eels, frogs and rats being sold on the ground. Then try some tropical fruits from the locals to taste both the fruit flavors and the local’s sweetness.

You will be amazed by the 120 year Buddhist temple of the Chinese right in the heart of Saigon. Witnessing how the locals seriously wish for happiness, love and children, you will understand more about their religious life.

In this site, you will be asked if you like to be dropped or not. This is the last stop during the tour. If you decide to stop here, you will be required to pay 40.000dong/entrance ticket by your own. Then our guide will explain clearly for you how to visit and how to get home safely by yourself. The rest of guests will be taken back to the hotel.
