We were picked up from the hotel, given a welcome drink of mulberry juice and then we met our tour guide. The tour guide Thu was so friendly and informative. We were able to feed the silk worms, use the looms and see what is entailed in the silk industry. Originally my husband thought the tour would just be a sales tour however we both found it to be one of the best tours we've done in Vietnam. Very insightful and we would highly recommend. There is an option at the end of the tour to look around the shop but there is no obligation to buy if you don't wish to. After the tour, we were given a small meal and transported back to our hotel. Thu, our guide was fantastic at her job and made our day special.
I started with a totally wrong expectation that the tour might be primarily a sales opportunity for Hoi An Silk Village products. We were picked up on time and taken to the Village and introduced to our pleasant, well spoken and very knowledgeable guide Lyn. For the next three hours we were taken through all of the in depth details that it takes to grow the mulberry leaves, feed the worms, harvest the silk from the cocoons, spin the thread and weave an actual silk cloth. Lyn and the ladies that operate the village tour made afternoon very interactive, and hands on so you came away with a good knowledge of just how interesting and complicated the silk cloth making process really is and just how many benefits there are to true silk clothing. At the end of the tour there was a no pressure opportunity to purchase silk and silk cotton blend items before being served an very delicious meal in the facility restaurant. In summary a very enjoyable afternoon that far exceeded my expectations.
It's was a great tour. Interesting. Learn the process of silk making and great history behind. Very peaceful surrounding and atmosphere
Very interesting and very well executed Hands on as we were able to try some of the processes ourselves On wordpress. 5 stars for this one. Martine - Belgium
Tour guide and tour were very interesting. Punctual pick up and hotel return. It was only the 2 of us and the entire compound was empty.... Nice to see charts with the life cycle of silk worms and moths. Great fun to help feed the worms, 'make' silk thread from cocoons caterpillars were available for eating! and then try our hand at weaving!! The silk store had magnificent items for sale at reasonable prices. The 4 course lunch afterwards was EXCELLENT. The trip was well worth the time and money.
