Stop At: Tra Que Vegetable Village, Cam Ha Commune, Hoi An 560000 Vietnam

Pick up guest at hotel in Hoi An to start a bicycle ride following some paths that link the small villages. Along the way, we’ll come across many rice fields, shrimp ponds and coconut palms reflected in the waters of the canals to eventually reach the old town. Easing the bicycle into a tiny alley which can only be navigated single file we’ll explore the culture and lifestyle of Hoi An’s people that no tourist can usually find.

Once arrived to Tra Que village, a welcome drink of freshly picked fruits is waiting for you. Then we walk through the organic herb gardens where hundreds of local farmers work their fields using the traditional methods of hundreds of years ago - no electrical machinery here.

We return to the inhabitant home, and this is where the real fun begins. Everyone is given farming instruments, and we set about joining the farmers in preparing the land for sewing or planting. Our farmer describes the traditional farming methods while we help fertilize the garden using seaweed from the local river, and then water it using huge tin cans strapped to our back. Time is then spent picking vegetables and herbs, and learning how to wrap them to prevent damage. Sharing with you about the traditional methods of gardening in organic way.

Many of the local herbs are used by the farmers for traditional village medicines. You will have a chance to enjoy the herbal foot massage with a real farmer concept.

Joining the cooking show, you have chance to learn how to cook a local traditional dish named Banh Xeo (Xeo cake) end enjoying lunch with the local family with another typical speciality named “Tam Huu”.

After lunch, you take the bicyle ride back to your hotel.

Remark: if you do not want to go back to hotel by bicycle, local guide can help to arrrange a taxi and the fee is on your account (just around $5).
