About this activity
Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul Airport reception. Transfer to the hotel Sultania, Yaşmak Sultan or similar charming hotel in the old town or in Pera district based on your request, and installation.
Day 2 : Istanbul, the two banks Breakfast at the hotel. Full and guided day in English or French. We propose another way of knowing the city by discovering, besides the great classics, more secret places, unknown to the tourists: a Byzantine church snuggled against the ramparts, a hidden synagogue or a mosque of which you will be the first to tread the ground. Descend to the Basilica Cistern, a hidden cathedral in the basement that served to supply drinking water to the entire city during the Byzantine era. Enter the Grand Bazaar and stroll through the narrow streets to discover Cuhadar Han, where goldsmiths still work in tiny workshops. Discover the picturesque courtyard of Zincirli Han and climb to the roof where scenes of the James Bond Skyfall film were shot. Stroll through the popular streets of Mahmutpasha, where cheap textiles are sold. When you arrive at the Spice Bazaar, your guide will show you where people are lining up to buy the famous Turkish coffee and then guide you in and around this typical market.
Stop in front of the European Station which was the terminus of the Orient-Express, named in the novel The Crime of Orient-Express by Agatha Christie. You will not have a hard time imagining Hercule Poirot with his bowler hat and his mustaches! Take the underwater railway tunnel to cross the Bosphorus and land on the Asian shore in Kadikoy. Explore the pedestrian streets with fish merchants, vegetables, spices and free time to break the crust in one of the neighborhood's typical restaurants. When you stride over the Bosphorus with a traditional "vaporetto", admire the most beautiful views of the European and Asian sides. You will notice the Leander Tower built on a natural rock in the open sea. Admire the most beautiful views of the European and Asian sides. Remember the final scene of the James Bond movie, decidedly inspired by this haunting city, The World Is Not Enough, with Sophie Marceau. Disembark at Karaköy, at the foot of the Galata Bridge. Go underneath to discover the fish market. Take the second oldest funicular in Europe, built by the French in the late nineteenth century. You will walk along the pedestrian street of Istiklal, the most popular and lively Istanbul. Take the nostalgic tram that will take you to the legendary Pera Palace Hotel, where the famous Orient-Express, including Agatha Christie, Zsa Zsa Gábor, Greta Garbo and ... Mata Hari!
