Built-in 1876 as a concert hall, now is a fully-fledged museum with the collection of many paintings, crystals, stone, sculptures, ivory, carpets, and jewelry. It is the oldest museum of the city also called the Government Central Museum; it gets its name from the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, because of the similarity of the Indo-Saracenic architecture.

Next to the museum is the Jaipur zoo which was built in 1877. Constituted under the Wild Life Protection Act, the zoo is divided into 2 parts – one for mammals and the other for birds and reptiles. Based on the core of the city and spread across acres of land, it has the zoological garden encircling the zoo. Around 50 species of birds and animals from around the globe can be found here.
