About this activity
In the morning at 9:30am, a private vehicle will pick you up from your hotel.
Arrive at Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing, situated in the shadows of historic 11th century Amber Fort. A guide will take you through the museum that was established in year 2005 with a thoughtful initiative to preserve and conserve the art of traditional hand printed textiles from the celebrated towns of Sanganer and Bagru. It is probably the only museum of its kind in the world where one can observe the consuming and exhausting method of hand-block printing in entirety, from carving of wooden blocks to transformation of raw fabric into a piece of art.
Continue to the charismatic 1135 AD restaurant for a traditional Thaali lunch. Located within the ramparts of the Fort, the decoration and furniture here match the ornate surroundings. The seating is split in various small sections, decorated with chandeliers, silk rugs and silver furniture. Not one of the most crowded places, the highlight includes Thaali meals in an exotic ambience.
• Museum is closed on Mondays and major national and local holidays.
• The museum is closed each summer between May 15th and July 15th for gallery maintenance.
• Flash and photographic lights are not permitted in the museum.
• Due to the historic nature of the building, the museum is inaccessible to wheelchairs. Admission to the ground floor is free of charge for people with wheel-chairs.
