Soweto and Johannesburg Guided Day Tour

Solly picked us up from our AirBnB and drove us from location to location, all the while teaching us the history of South Africa. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable on everything we asked. He was a great driver as well and pointed out different points of interest throughout the city. The tour stops were amazing and full of South Africa's historical and political history. Though the past had a lot of violence and discrimination, these tour stops showed us how far the country of South Africa has come and how amazing the people that live there truly are. We are beyond impressed. Side note: the food at the Apartheid museum cafe was delicious!

My husband and I did this tour. At first we had our reservations about the safety of the city and the riots but we went ahead and signed up anyway since the tour would be guided by a local. We absolutely LOVED it. Solly was an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the city as well as the current affairs. We felt quite safe during the entire tour. We would easily recommend this tour and this tour guide.

My family of 4 were part of a larger group of 13 taken on this trip by Solly. Solly was an excellent tour guide who told you about this history of Johannesburg as he drove you from venue to venue. We only had one full day in Johannesburg and this was definitely the most effective time way to spend it. Our kids (11 and 13) thought that it was a really good day too. This is a great introductory tour to Johannesburg and Soweto. This tour covers the important areas to explore the country's history. It's very informative and comprehensive. Definitely an eye-opener! Solly is a great tour guide that knows and respects his country's history very well.

Solly was an excellent guide, really knowledgeable on SA history. Kept coming up with facts throughout entire day. The tour covered Joburg highlights really well, the prison was very atmospheric. Going into Mandela's House was a bonus. Highly recommended.

My guide Solly picked me up at my hotel right on time. Although I had booked a small group tour, I was the only tourist, but Solly still honored my reservation. He was very knowledgeable and answered every question too. We had a great day together visiting all the sights. I especially enjoyed the Constitutional Court, the Apartheid Museum, and Soweto.

This was an excellent tour! My previous experience with Viator in the United States told me that I could count on them for providing professional services and as usual they did not disappoint. This is particularly important for me who is currently a female traveller. Solly my guide arrived promptly and was very professional. He narrated the history of Johannesburg as though he was reading from the pages of a history book. I learned so much from this tour. I highly recommend it!

This is a must do tour while in Johannesburg. Our guide, (Solly) was very well versed in the history of Johannesburg. He made sure he covered all of the highlights. He was very patient in answering all of our questions. Solly embodied the true spirit if customer service. I doubt anyone else could have made this tour any more memorable than he did. If I was able to rate this tour higher than 5 stars, I would definitely do so.

Our three week safari trip ended in Johannesburg. We had a free day before flying home in the evening. We felt that a visit to Johannesburg would not be complete without a tour of Soweto. I am so glad we joined this tour. Our tour guide Solly showed up on time with a clean car. On this particular day there were just two of us - my wife and myself. So it really felt like a private tour. We visited all the places as mentioned in the tour descriptions. Solly provided in depth information about the places we visited and answered all our questions. We had enough time for most of the places, including the Nelson Mandela House. And Solly seems to be a popular guy in the neighborhoods we visited! At the end of the tour, Solly gave us a ride to the airport. I would recommend this tour to everyone.

Solly is an excellent guide and delivered as promised. Constitutional Hill, Top of Africa, Apartheid Museum, Mandela House and Hector Peterson memorial were stops. he also showed other places while driving around. The tour was great with enough time for each activity. One suggested improvement is to take visitors for a short stop at a reasonable/trusted sourvenier store.
