The Best Authentic Taste of Maui: Food Tour with Pickup

Our guide/driver for the tour, Darrin, was a local, born and raised on the island, who knew where the best non-tourist trap places are to get samples of the local food. He was punctual, high energy, friendly, told interesting stories. A couple of the stops were not even restaurants, but markets off the beaten path. We were served full meals to share for breakfast and lunch, and the subsequent stops we received tasting samples of lots of different foods. We have been to Maui three times now, and some of these foods we'd never encountered before. It is a great way to learn about island culture. And yes, bring an appetite - don't eat breakfast before you go. The only thing that I didn't appreciate was being told by the person who called to confirm us said if we weren't at our pick-up location by the designated time we would be left behind. This made me very anxious, as it's a lot of money and sometimes things happen that can't be helped. And it turned out, causing us to worry about being a few minutes late was not necessary. Our guide was certainly accommodating and flexible; called us that morning to see how we were doing on arriving at the pick up location, and scheduled his pick-up of the other guests accordingly.
