About this activity
The Hana road tour takes you through rainforests and along the coast, past waterfalls, bamboo forests, cliffs and colorful flowers. You'll have the opportunity to photograph the town of Paia, Kaumahina State Park, Keanae Valley Lookout, Pua'a Ka'a, Wailua Falls and Waianapanapa State Park with it's black sand beach & sea arches on the road to Hana.
Your professional driver/guide will stop at Ke'anae to view the peninsula entirely formed by lava and then
swim in the waterfall fed pool (weather and time permitting) at Pua'a Ka'a State Park. Throughout the day you will discover cascading waterfalls, lush rainforests and windsurfing beaches as you experience the hidden side of Maui on this Hana tour.
The Hana district of Maui is generally considered to be the area between Ke'anae and Kaupo. Today there is a population of approximately 2,500 people living in the district, with around 1,500 in the area of Hana town. Before European contact, the area supported a large Hawaiian population. Queen Ka'ahumanu, wife of King Kamehameha, was born here in a cave by the sea at Ka'uiki Hill.

Touring with Travis was a hoot. Hes from Hana so we learned so much more about the region. At lunch he sang and played the Hawaiian guitar - what a musician! Fascinating scenery. Glad we did this.
This trip was very informative and the driver was very knowledgeable on the history of Maui. Plan to spend more than 10 hours on this excursion and also the roads that you must travel can be a little scary I wish I would've known that. But if you can stand the long day you will see lots of waterfalls and beautiful mountain/volcano terrain. This trip was well worth the money so as long as you remember the length of the bus ride and the long hours you will be gone it will be a wonderful trip.
This Hana tour was one of the best parts of our Maui vacation. The ample breakfast buffet, lunch, and the unlimited snacks and drinks provided throughout the day, made this tour really worth the money. Free hotel pickup and drop-off were an additional bonus..... Our driver and guide, Travis was a Very nice, warm hearted, and loving person who referred to us, his guests, as FAMILY/ BROTHERS and SISTERS....and had vast knowledge of the area, history and vegetation besides being an expert, experienced, and careful driver too. When entering the tour bus in the morning, we asked Travis about whether to choose left or right side seats to sit, and he suggested left side. Thank you Travis, am sooooo grateful for that wonderful suggestion, because some of the magnificent views on the Road to Hana had maximum visibility from left side seats.....Stopped at several places including all the viewing spots on the way...Absolutely loved the way Travis stopped at each and every big/small waterfall and sang in a funny way waaaaaterfall....He also taught us some great Hawaiian greetings.....A Hui Hou.....!!
Aloha! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this day trip. It was a once in a lifetime experience. We were picked up and returned to our hotel which made it convenient. We had plenty of time at each stop and were not rushed. Our bus driver, Kane, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the flowers, trees, and vegetation. He was also very safety conscious. At one point he even passed out wet-wipes when we returned to the bus after a long hike. The tour provided soft drinks, juice and water. Some of the highlights included walking on the black sandy beach, hiking to a beautiful waterfall, and seeing the Keanae Congregational Church church that was built in 1860. One suggestion: don't buy the lunch that is part of the tour package. Instead purchase a delicious lunch that is available at the lunch stop. Oh, there is also delicious banana bread, too!!
