Maui Scuba Diving Introductory Lesson from Lahaina

About this activity
Divers must be in good physical health: Please be aware that you are required to fill out the medical waiver form (located on the view additional information button at the bottom of this description) and submit it to the local operator prior to your arrival. All medical questions on the waiver must be answered with a no if you wish to dive. If you have answered yes to any of the medical questions on the waiver, you will be required to provide a doctors release prior to diving.
Your introductory scuba dive starts with a 45-minute lesson at the dive shop in central Lahaina, where you’ll learn how to put on your mask and other equipment, breathe through a regulator and accomplish other basic diving skills.
Then it’s off to the reef where you’ll wade into the water for your first dive at an uncrowded site such as Black Rock on Kaanapali Beach, Honolua, Airport Beach, Kapalua Bay, Mala Pier or Canoe Beach. Depths off Maui’s coast go no deeper than 35 feet (10.7 meters) but are still home to diverse marine life like green sea turtles, coral and plenty of tropical fish.
Swim alongside your dive guide in a small group, enjoying customized attention and the flexibility to move at your own pace while you get used to being underwater and practice diving techniques. This guided shore dive counts toward certification, and you will be registered with PADI at no extra cost.

The entire experience with Extended Horizons was excellent. They were easy to book/work with, super friendly, and had the right amount of focus on safety. My intro to scuba group was small - there were 4 of us plus the scuba instructor, Johnny. My husband is PADI certified and the other guy in our group is a Dive Master, so the instructor was able to focus a lot of attention on me and the other scuba newby. As soon as we get in the water, Johnny was patient, attentive, communicated clearly, and checked in often to make sure we were comfortable and safe. He also let the 2 experienced guys freely enjoy their dives. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone new to scuba, needs a refresher, or is accompanied by someone with little/no experience!
Best excursion and instructor. He will always make sure you are safe and you will have an experience of a lifetime I promise. WOW!

This was such a new and scary experience for me, but it couldn't have gone better for me being a first timer. Everyone was professional and kind and did everything in their power to make this dive something I'll never forget!!! This is absolutely worth it!
Jessica was a great instructor for our first scuba lesson and highly recommended. She was very knowledgeable with safety as the most importance in mind. We will definitely be back as we work to get certified.
Keith was a friendly, competent and super amazing guide. He made my first dive experience once to remember and met me at where I was at. His guidance and safety orientation has validated my continued interest in diving. I highly recommend him and this tour when visiting the island!
