Kakani Mountain Biking
Ride downhill on a mountain bike from the 2,732m-high ridge of Kakani. Wind through Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, home to the valley’s water supply and over 170 winged species and rare orchids. The forest is among the last of Kathmandu’s woodlands. From there you’ll visit Budhanilkantha, an area off of tourist routes and reserved for devotees of Buddhism and Hinduism. See the reclining black stone statue of Vishnu, resting upon the coils of Ananta, the 11-headed snake god, who you might glimpse en route to Kathmandu city. It’s a daylong journey that begins at the top, dispatching you into an exhilarating bike adventure from the countryside to the city.
