Our driver will pick you up at 08.00 am from your hotel in Athens or Piraeus port. You will then depart for this incredible journey to the great monasteries of Meteora, a site with great archaeological and historical interest.

You will have your first stop at The Holy Monastery of Great Meteoro (or similar) which is the biggest and oldest one of all. It is characterized at the Monastery which is "suspended in the air" (meteoro), because of the formation of the gigantic rock on top of which it was built.

Our second visit is at the great monastery of Varlaam or Saint Stephan. The Monastery of St. Stephan is a small church built in the 16th century and decorated in 1545. This monastery rests on the plain rather than on a cliff. It was damaged by the Nazis during World War II who believed that it was used in order to harbor insurgents and was later abandoned. In later years, Nuns took it over and reconstructed it. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to admire a small treasure of Byzantine and Christian items, at the museum inside the monastery.

This wonderful tour will be completed at the picturesque villages of Kalambaka, where you will have a Greek traditional lunch!

On your way back to Athens we will have a short stop at Thermopylae and the Statue of King Leonidas, dedicated to the battle in 480 BC that changed the course of Greek history, 300 Spartans against the Persian Empire.

You will be back at your hotel at approximately 20.30hrs.
