Tour guide wAs extremely knowledgeable, but was very “anti-photos”. Majority of us were Americans but he never slowed down to let us take pictures and rushed us a long. He was extremely knowledgeable, but would have been nice if he offered to take a photo.
The Acropolis was/is very crowded after 9:30 AM. I suggest getting there as early as possible to circumvent some of the crowds. Our guide Kimon was very knowledgeable he did his very best to find shade for our group on a very warm day and continuously reminded us of our safety. The Acropolis has a very rough terrain and some of the stone has been worn slick and can be very treacherous especially for those with knee or ankle problems.
We definitely recommend booking a tour to see the Acropolis. There is a TON of information we learned through our guide that is not published or widely known. Skip the Line and learn fun and historical facts!
Great leadership, knowledgeable, and friendly. Definitely a good choice! Enjoyed the tour guided by an archaeologist.
I paid for the early morning 'skip the line' private tour. First of all I was bumped back from 8 to 8.30. Even allowing for a slight delay in mustering and late arrivals by the time we reached the top of the Acropolis it was absolutely packed and with a crowded one way system working. The tour guide spent far too long on the lower slopes talking about Greek words and how so many words in Latin and English are based on them. Not enough on history and half of us were rolling our eyes at each other. We totally marched past the theatre of dionysis. Eleni only mentioned it as it related to Greek words!! Again. No chance for photos or anything. My party of 4 dropped out of the tour because we became so patronised by her attempt at engagement with the audience. We used the internet and our own knowledge to experience the attraction. If you are going to enjoy skip the line access, go in early, march straight to the top and experience the history and the etymology of greek words on the way back down.
Booking this tour meant we skipped the queues and Elina our tour guide was very knowledgeable giving us a history of Greece, the Acropolis and the temples. Would recommend to prospective travellers who have little to no knowledge of Greek history or travellers who wish to understand all the artefacts and sites they'll be looking at in the Acropolis.
Amazing tour! Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Answered all questions, local tips on sites and restaurants.
In my opinion, if you go into the Acropolis knowing very little about Greek history, this is a must-do tour. Our tour guide i wish i remembered her name was really great. We moved at a good pace covering most of the important points at the Acropolis starting at the outside and working our way up to the top. At the end, we were given a really interesting breakdown of how often this site had changed hands over the course of history which really helped connect the dots regarding the design changes and the destruction. It was also interesting to learn about the project side of things as far as what the plans are, how long they will take, and how they are still learning things as recent as a few months ago. This isnt a long tour and moves at a good pace so I think it's fitting even for the non-tour person out there.
This was a standard tour. Nothing special. Our tour guide was pretty dry. She provided a lot of information, but not the most engaging delivery.
The tour was wonderful and Dorina or Dorianna from Athens walking tours I hope I got that right was amazing. We were glad we took the 6pm tour as it was cooling down by that time. Stairs were a bit tough to be expected by I'm 70 and I made it. Took shoes off coming down, made it a lot easier. We had plenty of time for photos after tour. Would recommend highly
An interesting tour. More breaks were needed. Bring snacks, we were starving by the time we were taken to lunch.
Amazing your! We learnt so much and would highly recommend for anyone coming to Athens!
