Stop At: Theater of Dionysus, Mitseon 25, Athens 105 58 Greece
An exciting experience reviving the ancient Greek drama on its authentic location!
Our experience begins in front of the Dionysus’ Theatre, part of the Acropolis archeological site. (make sure you have visited the Parthenon BEFORE our workshop, and meet us at the theatre WITHOUT exiting the archeological site).
Under the watchful eye of the god Dionysus, in the shade of the Acropolis, you will meet our expert facilitator (PhD, or MA, or BA degree holder) and settle down on the original seats of the ancient open-air theatre. Our expert shall narrate the glorious stories of the place and the era, 2500 years ago, when the famous tragedies and comedies were performed; plays that affected both the ancient and the modern-era people. You will have the opportunity to trace the parts of the ancient theatre yourself onsite.
Duration: 40 minutes
Stop At: Herod Atticus Odeon, Dionissiou Areopagitou, Athens Greece
Since we need enough space for performing our play, and unfortunately the Dionysus theatre scene is not accessible, we shall walk 5 minutes till we arrive at the courtyard outside the majestic Herod Atticus Odeon (a stone theatre structure of 2nd century AD located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis). Then the casting will take place, and each one will take a role of the play. There, with the help of special made easy-readable cards, and following the narration of our expert, we will perform a famous ancient Greek tragedy or comedy, by listening the lyrics in English and act by reciting them in ancient Greek!
Our workshop will end with a highly interactive session, approaching the play story differently, giving our own thoughts and finally our own story ending, working both as individuals and as a team.
Our professional expert will guide you through the whole process in a productive and entertaining way, while assuring everyone’s equal participation. All participants will receive a commemorative for their participation. Our workshop lasts approximately 3 hours, including a short break.
Duration: 2 hours
