This was superb day trip. Straight from our hotel through the hills up to Delphi. Driver was on time and wound his way through Athens morning traffic in no time. We met the guide at Delphi. We had 3 hours at the Delphi Site and Museum. To assimilate all that was there without a guide would be very difficult. We had lunch in the town of Delphi after the tour and then spent a half hour walking through Arachova (a ski town near Delphi) before returning late afternoon to Athens via Aegean Sea national road Total was 10.5 hours. Exhausting but well worth it. We were 6 in all, including a couple who accompanied our family of four - two college students and 2 adults. We received Greek history and mythology lesson at the site and the museum from our Greek guide whose English was good. The driver was also quite knowledgeable but, of course, due to Greek licensing requirements, could not give the tour.
Delphi Highlights was an excellent small group tour. We highly recommend going with a small group. The photo shoots were amazing.
I was very lucky in that because some people didn’t turn up, I had a personal tour. However, even if there had been others there, I am sure the experience would have been excellent. Christos the driver and Theodore the guide at Delphi we’re both very personable, had excellent English and were very knowledgable, I couldn’t rate them more highly. Thoroughly recommended
Great tour. I enjoyed every bit of it. Tour guide Christos was amazing and explained everything in details. Definitely, recommend it!!
We were a small group of 7, two of us and a family of five. The van that picked us up was small with three seats forward and three seats facing backwards and one man sat with the driver in the front seat. If you do not do well riding backwards in a confined space, this trip would not be for you. The driver was very congenial, but we assumed from the trip description that we would have a licensed guide with us to inform us about Greek history and generally where we were going, Delphi, in the threehour ride. A licensed tour guide did meet us at the Delphi Archealogical Museum and gave us an excellent tour of the museum and then proceeded to give us a thorough tour of Delphi. Georgia's extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for Delphi history was obvious and her English was easy to understand. Our driver then took us to a restaurant nearby for lunch that had a wonderful view and delicious food, which is not included in the tour price, but was reasonable. Then, we went to the town of Arachna for shopping. In our opinion, this stop could be eliminated, although some in our group bought food items. It then took 3.5 hours to drive back to Athens, because of the usual late afternoon Athens heavy traffic. Delphi is definitely worth a trip, but with such a small van, hope that you get on the tour with a lovely family as we did.
Excellent tour to ancient Delphi. Picking up was easy and punctual and the driver very kind with fluent English.Drive along mainland Greece was very interesting and gave as the opurtunity to see a lot of Greece's country side. The official tour guide provide tons of information about history and mythology as we walked along ancient Delphi and the Delphi museum. Our day finished by having a great lunch in a traditional Greek tavern with wonderfull view of the mountains. Great tour and great service!
Truly a small group with excellent presentation.
