We will start from Monastiraki square, a can’t-miss spot of the city of Athens, from ancient rivers and huge libraries to thousand-year-old churches and cursed mosques; Monastiraki square is arguably a place of wonder.

Stop At: Stoa of Attalos, Adrianou St. 24, Athens Greece
The Stoa of Attalos was a stoa (covered walkway or portico) in the Agora of Athens. It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon, who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC. The current building was reconstructed in 1952–1956 by American architects along with the Greek architect Ioannis Travlos and the Greek Civil Engineer Yeoryios Biris.

Stop At: Temple of Hephaestus, 24 Adrianou St. Ancient Agora of Athens, Athens 105 55 Greece
On top of Agoraios Kolonos hill, which is delimiting the Ancient Agora of Athens to the west, stands the temple of Hephaestus, broadly known as “Thisio”. It is one of the best preserved ancient temples, partly because it was transformed into a Christian church

One of the more significant public buildings of the Agora is the Tholos, a round structure, with six interior columns and a propylon at the east that was added in the 1st century BC.

Bouleuterion at the Ancient Agora
Rectangular prostyle building. It served as a meeting-place of the 500-member Boule (Senate), made up of fifty citizens, from each of the ten Athenian tribes, chosen by allotment each year.

Stop At: Varvakios Central Market, Athinas 42, Athina 105 51, Greece
The Varvakios once came close to demolition. It’s an historic open market with bioclimatic ventilation, built in 1886.
We will wander in the meat market and the fish market to get to know the riches of the Greek seas, buy fruits and vegetables and finally, we will try a traditionally-brewed Greek coffee.
