Itinerary
Day 1: TREK TO NAGARKOT (Elev. 2175 m/7,136 ft)
Stop At: Nagarkot Hiking, Kathmandu Nepal
The Kathmandu Valley Rim Trekking Experience begins after breakfast when your car picks you up and takes you to the little village of Shankhu. It’s a 90 minute drive as the hustle and bustle of the Kathmandu Valley slides behind you. You leave the city behind as you enter the rich and beautiful countryside that the Kathmandu Valley is known for. Fields and farms stretch out before you with quaint villages where time has stood still.
The trek begins at Shankhu and you will be walking uphill past terraced farms to reach the high point of Nagarkot. Located on the northeastern side of the Kathmandu Valley, it is about a 2 – 2 ½ hour walk. Nagarkot is famous for its mountain views and from up here you can see five of the 14 highest peaks in the world. You will stay at a nice standard hotel where in the evening you can watch a magnificent sunset over the Himalayas.
Duration: 3 hours
Meals included:
• Lunch: Lunch at local restaurant.
• Dinner
Accommodation included: Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: TREK TO DHULIKHEL (Elev 1550 m/5,085 ft)
Stop At: Kali Temple, Top of the hill Dhulikhel, Dhulikhel Nepal
The day starts before sunrise as you make your way to the vantage point to watch the sun rise over the Himalayas. Look to the Far East to the rising sun and see as its first rays begin to poke about Mt. Everest. While Everest is not always visible, on clear days you can actually see the world’s tallest peak as the sun rises above it. Watch the peaks go from grey to red and then to a brilliant white!
Enjoy breakfast after sunrise, and then it’s off to Dhulikhel. The journey takes you through some beautiful forests with rhododendron trees. If you are lucky enough to travel in March or April, the rhododendrons will be in full bloom! Along the way, pass through small villages of various ethnicities as well as see great views of the Himalayas to the north.
Duration: 5 hours
Meals included:
• Breakfast
• Lunch: Lunch at local restaurant.
• Dinner
Accommodation included: Overnight at the hotel.

Stop At: Namo Buddha (Stupa), Kathmandu Nepal
We rise early and after breakfast, begin our walk to the beautiful resort of Balthali Village. On the way is the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Namo Buddha. Popular with Buddhist pilgrims, the place marks where Lord Buddha in a previous life offered his arm to save the life if a hungry tigress so she could feed her four newborn cubs. The monastery here is extraordinary with its brilliance of colors as well as very large golden statue of Lord Buddha. There are several places of worship here and you will visit each of them. Look closely and you will see the influence of Tibetan Buddhism at Namo Buddha. There are wonderful paintings everywhere as the sacred beauty of the site will touch your very soul.
