Kakani Day hiking
Kakani hiking is one of the best viewpoints in Nepalese Himalayan and Kathmandu city which lies in the north west of Kathmandu Nepal towards Dunche which is the roads leading to Langtang Region trekking. In Kakani hiking, you will hike through green paddy fields enjoying the views of rural Nepalese Life. Kakani is famous for Himalayan trout fish, and you can find them in Restaurant at the top of the Kakani hill station. You might get a chance to see the local homemade liquor (Rakshi) using some unique ingredients such as strawberry or Rhododendron flowers. Kakani is also famous for strawberry farming using a single irrigation system by the local farmers.
It takes you about an hour to reach to Kakani hiking starting point from Kathmandu by driving, and the distance of driving is about 29 km or 18 miles. Drive to Rani Pawa which is a beautiful settlement village and some more village namely Kaule. The Kakani height is a naturally beautiful place, and you will walk through Pine forest trees enjoying the fantastic views of the Kathmandu valley at your footstep.
Once you reach the top of the Kakani hill station, you can enjoy breathtaking views of High snow-capped mountains namely Langtang Himal range, Ganesh Himal ranges, Manaslu, Annapurna, Fishtail, Dorjelakpa, etc. with a clear blue sky. While walking on the way to Kakani Hill station, you will see armed police force and if you are lucky enough you will see them train. On the hill station, you can also see Thai Memorial peaceful parks which are commemorating the 113 victims of 1992 Thai airlines. There is also local monastery constructed by Korean monks. You can also enjoy the close view of the daily lifestyle of Tamang’s who are an ethnic group in Nepal.
