About this activity
Classes are held twice a day at 9am and 1.30pm – 7 days a week. Each class runs for 4 hours and includes a visit to the local market and rickshaw ride back to cooking school. Each participant gets to eat their own delicious creations, so arrive hungry – there’s plenty to eat. You’ll cook 5 courses of traditional Nepali and Newari food. The cost for the class is US$35 per person, which includes everything. Each dish has a vegetarian or vegan option if you prefer, just let us know when you arrive at the class. We will do our best to cater for those with food intolerances
Walk to the local market and return by rickshaw:Meet us at the cooking school 15 minutes before the start of the class for chai, then we’ll walk to the local market and have a fun rickshaw ride back. We use the freshest local ingredients and give you a unique and authentic experience – travel the ancient streets to the market where the locals shop daily and go back in time in a rickshaw, just like the locals do.
Learn about the ingredients:Local markets where shopkeepers share information about the traditional use of local ingredients as well as methods of farming and fascinating stories of local life in Nepal. The people are so colourful and interesting and will warm your heart – it’s a very enjoyable cultural exchange.
Start cooking your 5 course meal:Our chef will take you step by step through the entire process. You cook one course and then eat it, so your food is fresh and hot and because you cook it yourself, you can add as much or as little of the individual ingredients – if you love chilli, add more! Don’t like spicy food? No problem, just don’t add much or any!
We have 3 different menus, each with 5 different traditional dishes – there’s plenty of variety. We know how much visitors love momos, so no one misses out they are on each menu.
Come hungry, there’s lots of food.
