Stop At: Ketchikan Harbor, Ketchikan, AK 99901, USA

Coast Guard Beach. 30 minutes north by car, 30-minute hike to beach. For those of you who would like to get out for a two-mile round-trip hike on a gravel trail through the Southeast Alaskan rain forest, enjoy some conversation with your host and other trekkers, and spend some time beach-combing along the ocean. The first mile is mostly downhill after our flat muskeg start and winds us through a rain forest of Western red cedar, Sitka spruce, and hemlock, eventually leading us to a sprawling, undeveloped, rural beach, which is only accessible by foot or boat. Here often various waterfowl and eagles can be seen and sometimes deer, seals, sea lions, marten, and whales.
