Snorkeling Day Trip to Koh Tao from Koh Samui

About this activity
After being picked up from the hotel the spacious speed catamaran is departing at 8:00 am from the northern side of Koh Samui.
Heading further north the morning will be spent on a 90 minutes journey by taking in the lovely boat ride to Koh Tao. Meanwhile professional snorkeling guides will explain everything what needs to be known about snorkeling in terms of equipment, safety in water and marine life. The snorkeling sites will be chosen depending on the weather and wind conditions to ensure the best possible and comfortable way of having fun in the water. Just beneath the surface snorkelers will be greeted by a coral reef teeming with life. Koh Tao's clear waters offer the chance to see huge sections of underwater life at a time. Here the snorkelers fully appreciate the size of corals, the abundance of colorful reef fish, and maybe even see a turtle. After having spent about one hour in the water a delicious Thai-style lunch will be served. In addition to this drinks like water, coffee, tea or coke are available throughout the day. At times also snacks like fruit and cakes will be served.
Then snorkeling one more time at a different spot guests will have the chance to explore natural reef structures and the huge variety of reef life at those top snorkeling sites for another hour.
After snorkeling the second time the catamaran will drive back to Koh Samui and arrive there approximately at 4.00 pm. There, a minibus will bring the guests back to the hotel.

We were the only 2 English speaking tourists on this tour as it was basically a tour catering for Germans. Nevertheless we felt included and Daniel went out of his way to ensure all information was translated for us. As Australians who have visited a lot of the Pacific Islands we were a bit disappointed with the quality of the coral and the range of fish. No nemos, sharks or turtles to be found! Overall though it was a pleasant day. We certainly seemed to be getting the best experience when you looked at what other tour operators were doing in the same areas. They would have heaps of people snorkelling together as one massive group in a very small area. This tour split you into groups of 6 to 8 with one guide and you spread out. Breakfast and lunch were fine and plentiful. It does take a couple of hours to get to the snorkelling spots so there is a fair amount of travelling for 2 hours in the water. If you want to see fish and coral you have to do this as you are not going to see anything off the beach at Koh Samui.
