Zakopane is a place full of breathtaking landscapes filled with natural beauty, numerous examples of historic wooden architecture: chapels, churches and houses built in a specific style called “Zakopianski”, which can be admired only in this region of the world.

This stunning world of nature will amaze you with its variety of views, the beauty of the Tatra highlander forests and meadows. During this tour, not only will you breathe the clean, mountain air but also will be able to taste traditional local products from sheep's milk such as oscypek cheese. Charming mountain cottages, green pastures and breathtaking views of mountains and crystal-clear lakes hidden among the rocks - in addition to those views, you'll have a chance to ride by funicular up to the Mountain of Gubalowka, visit the Tatra Museum and Chocholow Valley – a village filled with original wooden architecture.

We had four adults taking a tour of Poland, and wanted to see something a bit different from the big cities. Zakopane was recommended. We booked this private tour and left from our apartment in central Krakow. Kinga was our private tour guide, and she was great. She helped break up the length of the trip to Zakopane (2+ hours) with additional history, personal insights, out-of-the-way sights, etc. The tour itself was good, there really isn't that much to do in Zakopane, especially if it's not winter and you're not skiing, but the sights were nice, the downtown shops were upscale. I liked the old wooden houses and the cemetery, very interesting. April is a tough time to visit. The snow was gone, and the whole area was in transition from winter to summer, but the weather was good, and it seems like a nice city. Again, paying a little extra for a guide made it worthwhile.
