Loved this excursion. Met Kimmy our wonderful guide at Gate must take the free shuttle to get to the gate. Fishing village was interesting, oh the smells...Reclining Buddha impressive, my favorite was the visit to the school. If you can, pack some simple school supplies pencils, construction paper, glue sticks, anything. They were so appreciative and it made me so happy to give. The waterfalls were pretty, we didnt swim but walked all around. If there is a lady there making fried bananas, you must try. Delicious. One of my greatest take always from this entire trip happened sitting on the beach chatting with Kimmy, the guide. We have all been blessed with different things in our lives. Kimmy hoped to one day get to travel like me, but his smile was huge when I explained that I had to trek half way across the world to see what he gets to see everyday. We both appreciated what we have a bit more after that lovely conversation. Even though we are all different, we are all the same.
The early morning part of the excursion was too impressive. The fall that claimed to be a wonderful scene turned out to have little flow, probably it's the dry season. The travel from harbour to this first destination was somewhat long, almost one hour. I think the time spent on this trip could be better spent on other spots. The latter part of the excursion was a little more interesting when we're brought to the sandy beach near the port. Scenery was beautiful under a sunny day. All in all, we still enjoy the excursion though it actually ended a little too early than we expect for a full day excursion. The guide was a freelance working full time as a cashier in local hotel. He spoke fair english but very passionate in guiding us around.
We loved visiting the school and bringing the students school supplies. That was definitely the highlight! Our tour guide was flexible and pleasant as to what we wanted to do.
I have already rated this tour, but I am happy to do it again. We highly recommend this tour, a truly wonderful experience with the highlight being the temple of Ream. Our guide, Chum, was amazing taking us to the places we had to see and the one we wanted to see, very informative. A marvellous trip .for anybody on a cruise with only a day to see the best.. Our food was also the best we had on our entire holiday, and we were on a cruise ship. Cn not rate this too highly, excellent tour, and ask for Chum. The Mackenzies
