Kompong Phluk Two Floating Villages and Sunset Tour
5h30
Sunset & Sunrise
About this activity
Your guide will meet you at your hotel or guesthouse in Siem Reap, then head to the boat docking area in an air-conditioned minivan. On arrival at the docking area your mini Tara boat awaits you. You will cruise along the river and into the floating villages that hold a population of about 6000 residents. Then you cross the great Tonle Sap lake, which is a great way to see traditional fishing methods that have been unchanged for centuries.
Heading into the next village, you enter the Flooded Forest, where you will experience a 10 degree drop in temperature. A local boating guide will row you through the flooded forest (or walk through the elevated canopy walkway dependent on water levels) and depending on the time of year will row into the main street of Kompong Phluk (or walk through if the water has receded). Your tour will take some time to hand out school supplies at the local school. There will also be a visit to the large Pagoda and the monks school where light afternoon snacks and drinks are served.
You will then go back onto the great lake to head north west, where you dock at the Queen Tara, in the heart of the floating village. Enjoy a full buffet dinner and drinks including alcoholic beverages. This is the best place on the lake to view the beautiful sunsets, especially on the roof top viewing deck. After the sunset, transfer back into the mini Tara for the cruise back to the dock area, and finally back into town where you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Excellent and very informative. Guides were excellent and very helpful.
Enjoyed seeing the floating village but the journey was tedious due to time of year - no ones fault. Not impressed with the limited buffet. No ice available for drinks in the 38 degree heat.
This was a memorable day and we had an excellent guide, Piseth It was quite an experience to see the floating villages and then walk through the currently dry flooded forest where we saw the stilted homes, school and also saw the pagoda currently being renovated. We were treated to some small children reciting poems during their English class, too. At sunset we went to a restaurant in the floating village and had a delicious meal. What an amazing experience. This touir is highly recommended.
