Small-Group Day Tour to Kompong Khleang from Siem Reap

We were picked up over an hour late because other members of the tour were late since they overslept and then insisted on eating breakfast at their hotel before joining the tour. The tour operator waited for them. When we called to inquire, we realized that the local number was in Vietnam not Cambodia which added another complication. When we were finally picked up, the amount of time spent on the bike ride/ local market portion were shortened so we would arrive on time for our lunch. The bike ride was one of the highlights and would have enjoyed not feeling rushed through it. Lunch at a local house was nice but I do not need to take a rest before proceeding to the boat ride. The sights along the lake were interesting but we did not stop at the floating village. We spent time on the lake moored in the trees to hear about some of Cambodia 's history before heading back to meet the van. It was interesting to stop at the roadside stand to see how sticky rice is made and taste it. Our tour guide was friendly and informative but I feel that there was too much downtime on this day tour. Also, there should be a policy about people who are not ready at the designated pick up time so that others are not inconvenienced. Also should have a true local contact. The fee for this day trip was not worth it and I have written a review on Trip Advisor saying it is not worth the price.

Fantastic trip. We began our day with a bike ride through a local village and market. Being able to experience the local day to day culture was amazing. Ending our day at Kompong Khleang was the best part. Eating in a local home and experiencing the people of the lake was a memorable day. Our guide was very nice and extremely informative. We highly recommend this trip.
