About this activity
Unleash the inner artist with this wonderfully hands-on experience.
The first stop will be at the Craft Village to try out the historic process of batik painting. This beautiful art form uses dye-resistant wax on fabric to create stunning images that evoke the spirit of Southeast Asia. A local guide will talk through the process and explain how to create the most beautiful pictures. Learn the history and craft heritage of Malaysia from the local artists and discover any hidden talents as this workshop is very much a hands-on experience. Explore the various outlets in the Craft Village and see a wealth of traditional Malaysian artworks created by the residents.
After a morning of creation head to the famous Central Market. Built in 1888 and originally a wet market, this bustling place has now become home to Kuala Lumpur’s finest arts and crafts. Take in the magnificent galleries and traditional stores which sell wood carvings, songket (a beautiful Malaysian form of textile weaving) and delightful gifts for people back home.
Enjoy an authentic Peranakan lunch to round off a creative morning well spent.
