Merdeka Square is situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. It was here the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time at midnight (time: 12:00 AM) on 31 August 1957.

The Lake Gardens of Kuala Lumpur has a long history since 1888. Due to its lush greenery and jogging tracks, the Lake Gardens are usually frequented by joggers or those who just wants some time away from the busy city. The Lake Gardens is located along Jalan Lembah and has two manmade lakes and other parks which attract throngs of visitors.

National Museum is located near the southern tip of the Lake Gardens, past the National Art Gallery. An excellent introduction to Malaysia’s history, economy, geography, arts, crafts and culture, it overlooks Jalan Damansara and was built in 1963 with its displays spread out onto three floors. The building has a sweeping, traditional Minangkabau-style roof and a main entrance flanked by two large murals of Italian glass mosaic that portray the country’s major historical events and cultural activities. A couple of years ago the National Museum underwent an extensive renovation that had an all-new gallery added to its complex.

The Kuala Lumpur railway station is a railway station located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Completed in 1910 to replace an older station on the same site, the station was Kuala Lumpur's railway hub in the city for the Federated Malay States Railways and its successor Keretapi Tanah Melayu (English: Malayan Railways), before Kuala Lumpur Sentral assumed much of its role in 2001. The station is notable for its architecture, adopting a mixture of Eastern and Western designs.
