Just beside the monument, there is a landscaped garden with a collection of prize winning sculptures crafted by artists from the ASEAN region.

The mosque was built in 1965. The mosque has been standing firm on its grounds since then and is now deemed as an important symbol of the Islamic country of Malaysia. Marvel at the unique design of the mosque with it's 18 pointed roof.

A historical place where the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag was raised for the very first time at the struck of midnight of 31st August 1957. From then on, Merdeka Square has been the venue for the annual Merdeka Parade. The flagpole which holds the flag of Malaysia is the tallest in the world.
