About this activity
In the morning, meet a professional, local guide at the cruise terminal and get ready to embark on a full-day walking tour of Kuala Lumpur’s heritage trail.
Start at Independence Square, where colonial rule ended and the flag of an independent Malaysia was first hoisted in 1957. Head across the road to the majestic Sultan Abdul Samad Building, once the headquarters for British colonial administrators.
From there, make your way to Kuala Lumpur’s top historic landmarks, including the Old High Court, Jamek Mosque, and the Sri Maha Mariamman Hindu Temple. Stroll through the bustling streets of Chinatown before stopping for an authentic lunch of Peranakan cuisine at the Central Market, originally built as a wet market by the British.
After lunch, continue by train to Batu Caves, a series of caverns and caves temples in the Gombak, north of Kuala Lumpur. Situated on the banks of the Batu River, it is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside of India and is the focal point for the Hindu festival of Thaipusam.
Following your time at Batu Caves, return to the city for a walk through one of Kuala Lumpur's busiest streets, Jalan Masjid India, lined with an array of colorful goods and foods. Stop over to try a glass of refreshing teh tarik, a traditional milk tea that's considered Malaysia’s national drink, and enjoy some time to browse for souvenirs. This full-day tour concludes with return transfer to the cruise terminal.
