About this activity
From Lisbon, we will find one of the largest relics that the wonderful city of Sintra offers: the Quinta da Regaleira, known for its unique cultural and natural beauty. Along with the Historic Centre of Sintra, the Palace and Quinta da Regaleira were classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage. The Quinta da Regaleira is one of the most beautiful examples of the revival art of the 20th century. It consists of a Palace, a chapel, a Forest and a number of luxurious gardens, with exotic trees and abundant vegetation, and even a tunnel network connecting all the buildings. The Palace you can contact with a beautiful architecture, large rooms, and fine details. In this tour, you will be able to discover the secrets that the Quinta da Regaleira has kept over these years: every corner of this place hides mysterious meanings of Freemasonry and the Knights Templar, including tunnels, Gothic towers, and fortified stone walls. After this visit, we will pass in the Cape Roca - the westernmost point of Continental Europe, on the Atlantic Ocean. The Cabo da Roca was even described by the most famous Portuguese writer, Luís Vaz de Camões, in his epic poem "Os Lusíadas" (in English: “The Lusiads”), as the place "where the land ends and the sea begins". Then, there is also a lighthouse, a stone monument, and a tourist shop. Do not end your visit to Sintra without visiting one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal: The Pena Palace merges numerous architectural styles: Gothic, neo-Renaissance, neo-Manueline, Eastern Moorish, and catching Indian influences, too. Becomes, therefore, a totally exotic and exuberant place, with facades of strong and fascinating colors! Not for nothing, it is one of the Portuguese most visited monuments every year. The Pena Palace is surrounded by a majestic Park with more than 200 hectares, composed of many gardens, bridges, fountains and ponds, greenhouses and caves. In the park, there are numerous activities to try, from carriage rides, horseback riding, among others. Not to be missed! We will return to Lisbon through Cascais, a village known for its closeness and intrinsic connection to the sea and the ocean. There is the Guincho Beach, a popular beach for surf fans. We promise you: it will be unforgettable!
