About this activity
Fátima Sanctuary
The Sanctuary of Fátima is a pilgrimage town and a memorial of the happening that led to his creation: the apparition of Mother of God to three shepherds in 1917.
Basilica and the Chapel of the Apparitions
Houses of the Shepherds
House of the family Marto and house of Lúcia.
Batalha Monastery
The Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, also designated as Monastery of Batalha, is unquestionably one of the most beautiful achievements of the Portuguese and European architecture. Since 1983, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage. This exceptional architectural complex is the result of a promise made by King D. João I. in return for his victory in Aljubarrota, a battle that came to it’s end on 14. August of 1385 and that assured his throne and guaranteed Portugal’s independence.
Nazaré
A fishing village, nowadays worldwide famous in the Surf community, since Garrett McNamara surfed a wave of around 30m at „Canhão de Nazaré“
Óbidos
On 11 January of 1148, the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, regained Óbidos from the Arabs with help of Gonçalo Mendes da Maia. The construction of the settlement’s fortress is attributed to this event. The medieval village of the XII. century is famous for it’s Medieval Festival (between July and August), where the visitors can experience how people lived in the village during this age, and for the sour cherry liqueur, served in chocolate jars.
