We start the day at this little-known gem of a place, the Air Museum. With around 44 planes which the kids can get up close to, this museum is perfect for little aviation enthusiasists!

Stop At: Castelo dos Mouros, Estrada da Pena Parque de Monserrate, Sintra 2710-609 Portugal

This castle was founded by the Moors in the 9th century and has high stone walls, impressive towers and battlements all to be explored. It’s a great place but there are a lot of steps and some walls have no railings so you must take care, especially with toddlers. We recommend using a baby sling/toddler carrier as this castle is not at all buggy friendly!

The historic centre of Sintra is a beautiful village of quaint buildings and cobbled streets. Wander through the alleys and taste the popular, regional pastries. A great spot for lunch.

Stop At: Park and National Palace of Pena, Estrada da Pena, Sintra 2710-609 Portugal

A fairytale palace all kids will love. Sitting on top of the highest mountain in Sintra, this palace has amazing and unique architecture, with gothic, Egyptian and Moorish influences and, of course, amazing views. Wander through these beautiful palace grounds and see many exotic plants and trees, but also enjoy the spooky forested walkways!
