Our tour began at the Cruise Port where our driver Marcio picked us up on time. We boarded a Mercedes Benz Minivan for a drive to the San Jeronimo monastery, we waited outside while a morning mass finished, Marcio and his comments made the wait interesting. The church is beautiful. After the visit Marcio invited us to Pastéis de Belém to taste the Pasteis and have a great coffee. We visited the Belem Tower, The Discoveries Monument, The old Town, The Cathedral, The old lift. All in all a great tour with a great guide. Will definitely do it again, and skip the Cruise offered more expensive tours.
Francisco picked my group of 4 up at our hotel right on time. We were driven to some special places in Lisbon we had not seen before. We learned some history and had beautiful photo stops along the way. He was an excellent tour guide. Some of our best pictures of Lisbon were taken that day. We saw all of the sights in Belém as well. I highly recommend Francisco and Gold Compass Tours. As we requested, he delivered us to our cruise ship right on time.
Diego was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of the town. Together he and our group planned the sites to visit. He had some great suggestions, The tile museum. He was kind, polite and an excellent driver.
We basically were drove to the touristic spots and being left to view by ourselves. The "tour guide" was just a driver.
Our tour guide was very friendly, polite, knowledgeable, and gave us great hints about many of the sights.
Demetrius came into our hotel lobby to get the four of us for the tour. He first asked if we had any sites in the city we wished to see and when we didn’t, he selected a variety of sites that gave us an appreciation of the beauty and history of the city. He stopped before we gat out at each place and gave us the background and an idea of what to look for. He was flexible if we wished to stay longer but also kept us moving so we could see as much as possible. He surprised us with Portuguese pastry and cold water. He was one of the best tour guides we have had in several years of travel. The van was new and each seat had water bottles.
Daniel was informative and friendly. He showed us all the highlights of the city, starting with a panoramic view of the city. He allowed us free time to explore the Alfama on our own, suggested ways to bypass the line for egg tarts at the Pastéis de Belém, and even took us to the newer part of town, built for the 1998 Expo so we could get a feel for the new as well as the old. My only criticism is that he took us to a specific restaurant on the water as a suggestion for lunch as we finished our tour rather than drop us in the Alcântara, an area we had expressed interest in visiting.
Good way to see highlights of Lisbon. Very busy, narrow streets but driver was very good at getting us around. Very knowledgeable and willing to accommodate us: ie dropping us off at restaurant where we had reservations. Only negative comment: We were a group of 8 adults and using a microphone would have made it easier to hear everything driver had to say.
The guide was charming polite friendly and very informative It was a great way to see s lot without lots of walking I traveled with my 79 year old aunt who was worried before going if she could do the walking
Tiago was early for our pick up and kept us entertained with his history and knowledge of his city and country. We had an excellent tour and came away with far more than we ever expected from a tour. Thanks so much Tiago for the terrific job.
We had a great time on this tour. Everything you hear positive in other reviews is true. We got to see many of the sites, never felt pressured to proceed and got dropped off at place for lunch. The bonus was a recommendation for dinner that turned out to be the best of our stay.
Our half day private tour with Bruno was a highlight of our recent cruise to Spain and Portugal. Bruno was articulate and knowledgeable. The route he planned allowed for seeing the city in the time available. And he stood in line for the famous custard tarts while we walked near the monastery. Highly recommended.
Our driver, Francesco, picked us up at the hotel in a very comfortable car. He is an excellent guide. He asked if we had a specific itinerary in mine, but we preferred to follow his lead. He obviously is very proud of Lisbon, he showed us many sites in Belem, the Alfama section, several parks and overlooks with amazing views of the city and the river. We learned a lot about Lisbon and Portugal, including suggestions for restaurants! This was a terrific way to get acquainted with Lisbon.
We were dissatisfied with the knowledge we obtained from the quide. We were expecting to learn more about the history of Lisbon and Portugal
Was a good day. We didn't have much time in Lisbon, so this was a very efficient use of our time to hit the must-see spots in Belem and Alfama. The Castelo isnt part of the tour, but our driver was great and drove us up as far as he could and we visited there and other spots we wanted to explore more later that afternoon.
Tiago was an excellent and professional tour guide, very satisfied with the experience
Our private tour guide, Tiago was amazing and so knowledgeable. We saw so much in 4 hours which made our trip very special. Highly recommend this tour!
