About this activity
Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel. Delve straight into historic Lisbon, starting with old Castelo Hill. Meander through the district’s winding streets toward Lisbon Cathedral, the city’s oldest church. Pause to admire the church’s intricate stained glass rose window, reconstructed with fragments from the original.
From here, explore Alfama, one of Lisbon’s oldest neighborhoods. Zigzag through crooked cobblestone streets lined with quaint cafes on your way to Belém. Learn how Lisbon grew from a fishing village into a cosmopolitan city during the Age of Discoveries. Marvel at the stately Jerónimos Monastery, a national architectural treasure. Next, head riverside to visit Belém Tower’s stone fortress and the Monument to the Age of Discoveries, both perched at the mouth of the Tagus River. Sample a traditional pastel de Belém custard tart, and relax while enjoying lunch by the river.
Once you’ve refueled, loop back toward city center, tracing your path along a soaring 18th-century aqueduct. Stop at the Amoreiras district to uncover a historic hidden gem, the Mãe d'Água Reservoir. Finish your tour in the Baixa neighborhood, and learn about Lisbon’s reconstruction following the devastating earthquake of 1755. Return to your hotel, or acquaint yourself with Lisbon’s nightlife from this prime locale.

Our guide Raquel (or Rachel) was a great guide, her English was also very easy to understand although we find a lot of times that a lot of guides have such thick accents that you really have to tune in or ask them to talk slowly to be able to understand. Well, not the case with Raquel; she was one of the easiest to understand out of our entire Spain-Lisbon vacation. Other than that, she was very knowledgeable. We were given enough time at the stops we made. It is a very good way to get to know this beautiful city. My favorite stop was "lady of the mountain sightseeing spot where you get to see 180 degree panoramic view of the city. Second favorite is discoveries monument. a unique ship shaped monument with a great history to tell. Day very well spent in Lisbon.
Our guide Rita was very helpful and knowledgeable. Because of very small group, she accommodate our wishes to visit places. very happy with guide Rita and Viator tours.
We had an enjoyable tour of the great city of Lisbon. The only reservation we had was with the narration. It could have flowed better. Our guide was prone in having to give some thought in what he was trying to communicate, making the discourse at times awkward. Given that there was a great deal of history and facts incorporated in the tour made it almost too much to cover, less could have been more. However, the guide's passion for Lisbon, the city he grew up in, and the country of Portugal was remarkable. We came away with an understanding and admiration for the people of Portugal.
Our tour guide is wonderful. Be prepared for a lot of ups and downs in Alfama.
Enjoyed it very much.
The weather was really crummy, wet, tropical rain-like. However, the tour guide Pedro has certainly made up for the shortcoming by his warmth, knowledge of the city, historical references, introduction to excellent restaurants. We will come back again......only this time, we will pick a sunny day -
We booked this tour for our second day in Lisbon. Rui I hope I'm spelling it right, pronounced Huey I believe, was just amazing. I've been on many tours before where it just seems rehearsed and they are just spitting out facts. However, our guide really felt like a friend who was showing us around a city that he grew up in and loved so much. We really got a sense of where everything was in Lisbon which helped us out for the rest of our trip. It's a nice way to get a quick rundown of Lisbon and we were all so amazed by how much history and beauty Lisbon had. The tour saved us time since we were able to see multiple places since there was a mode of transportation. It was also great that the group was very small. I can say hands down the best tour I've been on! Thank you for the great storytelling and your awesome driving skills. We fell in love with Portugal!!!!
