About this activity
We begin our tour in the northern part of Lisbon, in the Expo/Oriente area where you can go for a stroll in Parque das Nações which was built for Expo 98, when finally the river was returned to the city. Located in the waterfront of the estuary of the Tagus River, from here you will be able to enjoy an amazing view of the Vasco da Gama Bridge, the longest bridge in Europe with a total length of 17 Km.
With the river as background, we will go to Alfama, one of the typical and oldest quarters of Lisbon where you can go for a walk and get lost in its winding alleys that are known not only for their safety but also for their Fado Houses.
We continue our tour through the Graça quarter, built in the highest hill of Lisbon, we will pass by the National Pantheon whose purpose is to perpetuate the memory of the Portuguese citizens who have distinguished themselves for the services they have rendered to the country, and we will arrive at the Nossa Senhora da Graça viewpoint that offers one of the most spectacular views of Lisbon, and where we will provide you your first panorama of Lisbon, of its history, and where you will be able to take the most amazing photos of the city.
Next we will set our course to Sé, where you will be able to visit Sé Cathedral that was built using a mix of different architectural styles from the Romanesque style in the main building to Gothic in the Cloisters and in St. Anthony Church (Igreja de Santo António) which is dedicated to our matchmaker saint.
We will continue to downtown Lisbon where you can lose yourself and feel the unique atmosphere of our Rua Augusta and Praça do Comércio, known for being the entry door of the city. Here we will make a small break for lunch.
After lunch, we will continue our tour going up Avenida da Liberdade, which is one of the main boulevards of the city and is known for its high-end fashion stores, hotels, theatres and historical buildings, up to Marquês de Pombal statue and will enter Bairro Alto, an old and picturesque quarter located in the city centre with narrow and cobbled streets, ancient houses, traditional businesses, and several bars and restaurants. From here we will reach Chiado, one of the most famous and traditional quarters of Lisbon, one of the most bustling and cosmopolitan areas of the Portuguese capital.
We will pass Estrela Basilica (Basílica da Estrela) and its amazing garden, we will continue down the hill until we reach the river and Belém, for a perfect end of day, to taste a pastel de Belém , see the Jerónimos Monastery, the Discoveries Monument and the Belém Tower.
